Gas Gauge

My gas gauge doe not show a true reading. Sometimes stuck on full, sometimes on half. When I first turn the car on it show me the fuel level and then it goes up and down but stay on full most of the time. I have a 1999 3.8 Camaro.

Chances are the rheostat on the float gauge is bad. It would need checked. To do it, the float needs removed from the tank. The bad part is the fuel pump and float are a single unit and in the fuel tank.
