1999 Chevrolet Camaro hard to shift

1999 Chevrolet Camaro mileage: 78,000. I have had my car for two years, and it has always been hard to shift. I have had different people say it was the clutch and others say it is the shifter. Just recently, I have seen many Camaro's being updated to B and M or Hurst shifters. Before I spend a lot of money either way I would like to know your opinion.
