1999 Cadillac SLS Steering wheel controls not functioning

Rack and pinion broke. Climate control and radio buttons stopped working on my steering wheel. Also the air bag light came on. I replaced the rack and there still not working and the airbags light is still on. What could that be?

Typically what happens when the none of the steering wheel controls do not work and the air bag light is on. It red flags the clock spring or sometimes spiral bound cable. The clock spring allows a electrical current path for the air bag and steering wheel buttons. So check for continuity through the clock spring. TY
