engine dies when I press the brake pedal

how come whenever I press on my brakes the car will go completely dead and it only happens when I use the brakes

Do you mean the engine stalls or does everything including electrical go dead too? If it is only the engine, check the power brake booster for a vacuum leak. Disconnect the hose to it and plug the hose so there is no leak and see if the engine still stalls.
