What type of brake pads should I put on my 1999 Deville?

I looked at Pepboys website and it appears that there are platinum and ceramic brake pads. I need both front and rear rotors and pads. What is the difference between the two types of pads and which should I put on my 1999 Deville? How do you know that the type of pad you requested was actually put on the car?

platnums are fine. ceramics are for the newer cars. replace the rotors while you are there. they are not that much money.
