Need fix for hot air coming out of only passenger side of 1999 Buick Park Avenue.

The heat comes out the passenger side just fine, but only cold air blows out the driver side. A/C works normally so I only noticed it when it got cold here. Same thing in auto or manual settings.

I put the heater on manual, 90 degrees and high fan, then directed the airflow out of either the lower vents or the dash vents. Either way, the air coming out of the driver's side vents is unheated. The passenger side is blowing hot air both ways.

I'm thinking that there is a separate heater core on driver's side that is not getting hot water.

Do you have "Dual Climate Control"? If so, then the controls and/or the switch for that is faulty.

If not, then the "Diverter Door" inside of your HVAC unit is faulty.

This guide can help

Let me know, as well if you intend to repair this yourself and I'll walk you through the procedure.

If you just need advise for dealing with a shop, I can help with that as well.

The diagnosis and repair procedure would be the same if the vehicles and options are the same. However, the problem wouldn't be with the blend door but the "Diverter door".

Have you checked the blend air door near the heater core. There are two with dual climate control. It sounds like one is working and the other isn't.

When cruising over 40MPH is will run aroun thermostat temp of 195 but when idling or in slow traffic it can rise to 225-228 because the cooling fan is programmed to let it run hotter in those conditions.

The heater blows cold air on the drivers side and warm air on the passenger side. This is true in the defrost, vent, and floor modes.

You have dual climate controls? Are there any hvac codes? Maybe the code would point in the right direction. With dual control, there are temp sensors on each side. I can't say the temp sensor is faulty?

Some of the national brand autostores used to check some codes for free. Don't know about B codes? You can call and ask? You can get a code reader, just make sure it will read all manufacturer specific codes, plus generic codes.

See if your car is vacuum or elctricall operated actuators. It could be a vacuum leak to a motor or the otor itself is not working. The pic i'm sending isn't for your car but I cna't find one anyhow so it's kind of generic, but will give you an idea. Also the vacuumleak could be form teh motor as well. Repair parts vary depending on brands etc. Just call an auto parts store

Check fuses for hvac to see if it is blown. One fan shold come on when the a/c is turned on. Pic shows location of fuses to check. This could be a module problem as well an dneed to be scanned to find problem.
