I have a 1999 bmw 740 runs hot had new motor put in before I bought it its a used motor what could be the problem what should I check, do I need new motor this seems like good buy let me know how to go about it need help trying to find problem asap

If its running hot its something to do with your cooling system. Make sure the coolant level is good and purged of all air. Also make sure your fan is working. How long does it take to heat up? Does it heat up and stay up or does it vary? Also check thermostat and make sure your water pump is working. Check all that. Its a rare thing if a motor is the reason for it over heating.
