After we received the car back from our mechanic.
Is there a wrong way to steam a car engine on a BMW? Why am I still leaking oil?

We here at CarPros are mechanics and problem solvers. A little known fact is that we are also mind readers and sooth sayers. When I read your mind, I get that the car was at the mechanics for an oil leak that did not go away as well as cleaning for the aforementioned oil leak, how am I doing so far? As to the sooth sayer part, one my dad used to tell me is "You can learn something from the dumbest guy in the world. And sometimes, all you gotta do is look in the mirror." Levity. What a concept.

Perfect. You are a mind reader. After the engine was steamed, all the previous mentioned lights went on along with losing functions on our steering column. Previous posts suggests that the steaming was not done up to BMW standards. As for the oil leak, the sooth sayer in me says they fixed an issue but not the underlying problem. As a builder, I wish I was not the dumbest mechanic in the world.
Thanx,
John

Thank you for playing along, I love it when people have a sense of humor! The lights that are on did not get mentioned in the original post. What are they? As to any standard, common sense when cleaning a BMW (although not always common!) Means cleaning the oil off and then blowing he car dry to avoid water being trapped in a sensitive area. I would get in communication with the facility that performed the repairs and express my concerns, start with tact and grace and prepare to be challenged. Go to screaming and ranting as a last ditch effort. Threaten only if threatened, let me know how it goes and stick to your guns!
