My car recently stop while I was driving on the expressway. It made a loud noise and it was not able to accelerate. I was able to start the engine but when I put it in gear it makes a terrible noise. Let me know what it is

Impossible to tell from here as we cannot see it or hear it.

Whatever it is sounds serious and you should have a shop check it for you asap.

It could be engine internal or trans related.

What noise are you refering to? The differential itself seldom have problems unless it ran dry of lubrication. If you are having rachettingor grinding noises without the vehicle moving forward, you have a problem with the interediate shaft.

If you had a previous post, you need to reply to that and not create any new post.
This would allow the person attending to you to follow up when notification is received.

Use Hypoid gear oil API GL4 or GL5 SAE90. At bottom of diferential there is a drain bolt, either a 17 mm hex head or a recessed square 1/2 inch bolt. The refil plug is just behind the CV shaft almost level with it horizontally.

After checking through your other posts, it seems the intermediate shaft has failed or if you ar lucky ehough, either one of the CV joint has falied (remote possibility), or they have been dislodged.

With vehicle on level ground, engage the parking gear and release the handbrakes. If you are able to push the vehicle forward or reverse more than 1 feet, the problems I mentioned above are true.

Hi,

I'm not sure what noise you are hearing. However, it is important to service the differential on regular basis to avoid bearing wear and damage.

If you look below, I attached a pic of the drain and fill locations on the differential (pic 1). All you do is remove the drain and allow the old fluid to drain out of it. Replace the drain plug and refill it.

Pic 2 shows the capacity and fluid type to use.

Because I'm not sure of the noise you are referring to, I attached a list of things to test based on symptoms. See pic 3 and hopefully one will mirror what you experience and help you.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

I would first drain the oil and check for metal fragments, you may have broken a tooth on the crow wheel or pinion or damaged a spider gear, that is if the noise is the diff and not in the transmission.

You are not doing things correctly and it looks like you are interested only in creating problems. If that is your intention, please go somewhere else.
