I was driving back from town today, went to pass someone and the check engine light came on and then it died. Went to crank it back up and nothing, the starters making more noise than usual. Don't know if that's just me. But both belts turn when trying to crank, nothing else tho. Not trying to crank. Just bought this car the other day, this is my first foreign car so any help will be greatly appreciated!

If it sounds funny when you are cranking it, check to make sure the timing belt didn't break. Also, since the check engine light came on, there should be trouble codes stored in the computer. Have it scanned.

Just took the cover off of the timing belt and that would be my problem. So on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is it messed up? New engine? Etc, is there a chance at all that it didn't mess anything up?

When you said it sounded funny when you tried starting it, the belt was my first guess. Please confirm this with an Acura dealer, but I don't think you have an interference engine which is a good thing. If I am correct, all you will need to do is replace the timing belt. If it is an interference engine, then you will most likely have head damage to the valves. That could get expensive.

Let me know what you find.
