My clutch made a popping sound and is now stuck to the floor. Clutch is engaged, but can't really change gears. It's a 1998 volvo s70. What's wrong?

This is a hydraulic clutch system, check the fluid level and look at the slave cylinder at the bell housing, if it is wet under the rubber boot the cylinder has failed you will have to top up the fluid and bleed the system, this may give you enough clutch operation to get the car to a workshop for repairs, also check the back of the master cylinder as well for fluid leaks.
