I have a Volvo S70 1998. The check engine light is flashing from time to time. What does it mean?

Stop the engine immediately to prevent expensive damage to the catalytic converter. Way too much raw fuel is entering the exhaust.

Best go get a scan and identify what codes are set in the ECU, report the codes here for further assistance.
