I was just wondering what it is called that holds the entire wheel on in the front.. Is it a hub? Because when ever i change my front drivers side wheel when i loosen my lug nuts to take the tire off the whole wheel will move..

Yes, the hub.

The hub sits inside the wheel bearing... your wheel bearing could be bad. Sometimes you can
get lucky and tighten the big nut in the center of the hub and the free play goes away.

The other reason the wheel hub could seem to be loose, is the ball joint below the hub.
