wondering if power steering fluid will work

Hello, I have a 98 VW Jetta and i was just wondering if you can put just every day power steering fluid in or do you have to buy the special expensive

I had to spend $25 on power steering and just dont have the cash to do it again. So i was just wondering if it will mess it up or will it survive? Thank you

Yes, is most cases, but to be sure look up in the owners manual.
