cant get gears

i have a vw caddy van r registration an cant get any gears the gearbox is not loose an all bolts are tight on levers an gearbox oil is low but not sure how long its been like it for

Check the linkage to the transmission. If it is good, have the computer scanned to determine if there are any trouble codes related to the transmission. Make sure trans fluid is clean and full.
