1998 Volkswagen Beetle gurgling noise from exhaust

I'm getting a "gurgling" noise from under the drivers door. Not loud yet, but getting louder. Can it be the exhaust pipe with a hole in it or something else. It's hard to get under the car to inspect it

Record the sound via video camera or cellphone. Post the video on
youtube (free)... once we can hear the sound and or see where it is
coming from, we can take a guess as to what the problem might be.

Get the car up on a hoist and get the exhaust system inspected for any defects.
