Handbrake light stayed on whilst driving yesterday today I drove car and my brakes are hardly working when you press the pedal they are really soft and spongy and go right away in hardly even stopping the car, please advise thanks!

You need to get all the brakes inspected especially the rear brakes that double for the hand brake, you may have cooked the rear pads and damaged the rotors, get a mechanic to do a full inspection ASAP.
