1998 toyota Tacoma code 171 is bank 1 running lean what is bank one and what would cause this problem

Lean fuel condition could be caused by one of the following below:

1.Vacuum leaks
2.EGR and PCV valve.
3.Low fuel pressure.
4.Dirty fuel injectors.
5.Mass Air Flow Sensor.
6.Oxygen Sensor.

The number 1 cause of the p0171 on the Tacoma is a dirty mass air flow sensor. if you remove the MAF and clean it with electrical contact cleaner--any other cleaner could damage it..clean the inside and outside of the sensor. If you have a K&N filter (or any filter with a oil on it) get rid of it!!!!
