My indicator to tell if the engine is running hot or cold does not work. Is this due to a blown fuse?

It might be the coolant sensor. Check that out it is located on the thermostat housing.

Chances are the temp sending unit is bad. Check it to confirm. It is, as mentioned, on the t-stat housing and just screws in and out.
