I am having a hard time getting my shifter out of park . it seems to be getting worse as the weather is getting colder.

Most of the time its a bad shift interlock solenoid but can also be soda coffee etc spilled intothe inside shifter assembly gumming it up.When it wont shift out of park can you hear the shift interlock solenoid clicking under the shifter assembly inside the car when stepping on the brake?
