i have mk2 clio headlights suddenly gone off but still have sidelights and can flick on full beam

See if the headlights and headlight relay are receiving power. Our reference doesn't list the Renault since it isn't sold in the U.S. Headlight relay is either in the main fuse panel or the relay box near the battery.
