1998 Pontiac Sunfire with a 2.4L. Car use to overheat constantly. It had a new radiator, thermostat, coolant temperature sensor? And the head was checked. All ok. However, the car sitll overheated. If I remember properly, the fan was not coming on while in drive, but in park it would come on. Therefore, my friend hardwired the fan and all was great. Now the fan does not come on at all? I would love to have it back to factory if cost isn't too bad. What would it take to have it work without hardwiring? Or how do I fix it to work again while hardwired?

If you hardwired it, you may have ruined it. First you'll have to diagnose what was causing it not to come on in the first place, beginning with the relay. If you're sure the ECT is good, then check the wiring/connectors for any problems. Then apply direct voltage to the fan to see if it comes on. If not, it's shot. Replace it.
