98 Pontiac Sunfire won't start

It will turn over but not start. And when I turn it to the on position I don't hear the fuel pump. It makes a loud long "buzzing" noise that sounds like its coming from the dashboard. What could be wrong?

Use a gage and check fuel pressure, engine cranking. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Check for voltage and ground at the fuel pump connector, engine cranking. Gray wire is voltage, black wire is ground. If you have good voltage and ground with no pump action, I suspect the pump. If no voltage, check the injector/fuel pump fuse, use a voltage tester, the circuit goes hot when you turn on the key.
