I think we can easily narrow it down if you had someone to help you crank while you check for spark, I was thinking fuel at first but when you said the tach went haywire too at an instance it made me think the crank position sensor may be faulty or both fuel and the crank sensor. But like I said, we can narrow it down if we can get someone to help you crank when you have one of those no start situations. As you know, those are the first things we need to check spark and fuel pressure.
