How do you remove the driver side air bag from a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix GT?

You need to remove the steering wheel. Make sure to disconnect the battery before working on the Air Bag. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. If there is any residual power, the air bag can deploy.

Just to add to this one I would also unplug the yellow air bag connector at the base of the steering column that goes up to sir coil. That way the air bag will be disconnected from the air bag module.I always do that when removing a air bag for safety reasons.

Takes a special tool or a deft hand with a small screwdriver. http://www.toolsource.com/release-tool-vehicles-p-102584.html
