I have a 1998 Plymouth Voyager Van. It runs fine but every once in a while the dashboard goes out and if I have headlights on, they go out along with the tail lights. It is not all the time but I would say if I drive for 20 minutes there will be five of those minutes that everything goes dead. What is this all about? Any ideas?

If by dash going out you are refering to the lights, start by checking the headlight switch. It is responsible for power to all the lights you mentioned.

Everything electrical intermittently goes out (headlights, taillights, dashboard lights, cap lights, digital odometer, gas gage, oil pressure gage, winshield wipers, you name it at one time. In other words nothing works except the car keeps driving fine and the radio seems to work thru it all. Then all of a sudden everything comes back on, then all might flicker, then might stay off for a while, then back on, etc. All the while the car is still driving. The bad part is that when I am driving at night, the lights go out so I manually hold the bright lights stick so that I can see.

Under the hood is a power distribution box. Check to make sure all main fuses are tight and free of corrosion. Also, check the power supply to that box to make sure it is tight, clean, and in good condition. That is where the power for everything comes from. My guess is that since everything goes out at once, that is where the problem is coming from.
