my car is making a rumbling sound when I try to start it

After returning from a 300 mile journey yesterday afternoon my engine was emitting a very low rumbling sound when turning over. This morning when switching it on it was emitting the same noise and smoke was coming out the engine area with a strong petrol

I will need more information, have you checked oil pressure, checked for any loose or broken engine mounts, exhaust problem, will it do it stationary and turning the steering?
