1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue engine soon sevice light

My car would not start and my engine service light comes on and would not go off and someone told me disconnect the alarm system. But sometimes it will start but sometimes it would not start. All of the lights on the dashboard comes on but the car would not say nothing. I just don't understand can you help me?

Do you mean the starter is not engaging?

Is there any security light or message coming on or flashing when you try to start it?
