I have a problem with my jeep overheating when it is ticking over or going short distances it is fine but if I had to go on to a moterway for about 20min and then come off the tep gauge would go to red I would have to pullover an let it cool down. One time it imobilised its self has it got self bleeding. What could be causeing it.

The cooling system is inefficient and probable causes are :

1. Thermostat not opening sufficiently.
2. Clogged radiator.
3. Restricted coolant passage.
4. Weak water pump.
5. Insufficient coolant.
