overheating

temp gauge goes through red but not heat, how do I drain water to allow me to check if airlocked?

look for a bleed screw on thermostat housing or higher part like intake manifold etc. you shouldn't have to drain system. if it's in red it's overheating so check radiator with engine off after hot if you feel cold spots the rad is bad also pressure check system for head gasket leak.
