the valve cover gaskets have been replaced 2 times in 3 years and continue to leak. Do I need a special material gasket to insure they will not leak

make sure your pcv valve works and has good vacuum

Yep, the gasket could be getting blown out, here is the location of the PCV valve so you can swap it out for a new unit. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes
