what would make a rough grinding sound out of the front driver side

after i get up to about 15-20 mph the steering wheel starts to shimmy a little bit and i get a rough grinding noise behind the front driver side tire that gets a little bit quieter when i turn left, if i turn right it persists to get louder. What could it be?
