1998 Mitsubishi Diamante idles fine, but when accellerating loses electrical power. Let off the gas and the engine will turn on again. If I slowly accellerate it will run, but very rough. Occaisionally check engine code p0300 will appear. Can this be the coil pack and distributor. Distributor cap looks ok. 136000 miles on this one.

It could be the coil pack or spark plugs. Have the coil packs tested.

The car does not have a coil pack. It has a cap and rotor. Good news, because it is much cheaper!

Have the plug wires ohmed out. Resistance should be below 25k ohms with continuity.
