1998 Mercury Sable oil light on

I just did a valve job and had to remove the cluster. I forgot about it until I saw the check engine light on now the oil light is on as well. I took negative battery off and tried again. will this cause the lights to go on until I get it set right or is there something else wrong.

it cold have damaged the cluster, check for poor connections an d make sure oi pressure sender is hooked up. is there oil in engine?the lights shold bgo on until car is started.
