gas tank installation

i have a 1998 mercury mystique LS When i changed the fuel pump i took the gas tank down not knowing i could just replace the pump under the back seat, and now the fuel filler neck tube wont go in the gas tank all the way.

i i need help

Replacement is the exact opposite of removal.

what the fuel filler neck wont go all the way in the gas tank

There should be a rubber hose between them. Push and twist.

its metal the metal fuel filler neck wont go all the way back in now i got gas leaking out cuz the neck isnt all the way in

there aint its just the tank and the metal filler neck

There should be a clamp that needs to be tightened to stop the leak and keep the pipes secured.
