no spark

Alternator locked up and shorted the coil in the distributor.Put new one on after testing it and no spark.Checked the pick-up sensor mounted by the crank pully and checked clearance. New plugs and wire's.Also plugs don't seem wet after cranking. Could it have shorted out the computer? Any ideas would help.

If a voltage spike went through the system, it could have friend the computer. Pull the coil, hook up a coil wire to it and to a grounded spark plug. Run a wire to from the +(batt) side to the positive terminal of the battery. Attach a wire to the ground terminal and QUICKLY tap it to ground as you watch the spark plug for a spark. No spark, bad coil. It could also be the ignition control module.
