I have a problem with my cv joint nut on my car as I cannot remove it from the wheel. I use a 32mm socket but its stuck. Is there something I can do to release the tension on the nut to remove it?

I would put it back together so you can drive it to a work shop, get them to loosen it with an air gun, nip it up by hand and pin it just to get home, otherwise you may never get it off.

The problem is that the car has a problem to move due to cv joint failure on my right front wheel. I can find an air gun from a friend to try to loosen the nut. Must I first remove the wheel before removing the cv nut or is it better to remove it while the wheel is on?

OK, wheel on, and wheel on ground, someone in car with foot on brake, this will help stop the wheel from turning, use a length of pipe to help with undoing the nut.

Use a sharp chisel to cut the locking tab first to enable easier removal of the nut.

When reinstalling, DO NOT over torque the nut, it can cause premature bearing wear.
