code that the # 5 cylinder is misfiring

My 1998 lincoln continental has a code that the # 5 cylinder is misfiring, it seems to idle a little rough when in drive and it is not noticeable when driving down the highway. The code resets and it may take a couple of days before it appears again. What should I look for?
