Cannot change gears unless I only push pedal 3/4 of the way down. is this fluid or a linkage problem?

When I push the pedal all the way to the floor, there is a grinding noise and I cannot put the vehicle in gear. If I only press the pedal 3/4 of the way down I can change gears just fine.

i take it this is a manual. have your clutch checked.

COULD BE YOUR CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER OR SLAVE CYLINDER

1ST CHECK YOUR FLUID IN THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER---FILL

BLEED IF NECESSARY

LOOK FOR EXTERNAL LEAKING---REPAIR, IF THAT'S THE CASE

SOMETIMES THE INTERNALS "O" RINGS OR CUPS (RUBBER PARTS) GET WORN OR DAMAGED---FLUID THAT NORMALLY WOULD BE "PUSHED" WILL "SLIP BY"---THERE IS NO FLUID LOSS OR EXTERNAL LEAKS----MANY CALL THIS "INTERNALLY LEAKING". REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU CALL IT, THE CLUTCH GETS LITTLE OR NO ACTUATION----CLUTCH MASTER OR SLAVE NEED TO BE REPLACED AND BLED
