Found the answer I was looking for. In 1997 Jeep starting using a speed sensor on the A4W. A hole on the transmission case prior to that didn't exist. It is possible (perhaps not so practical) to drill it out and machine the hole to install the speed sensor. The answer to which I have arrived is that the A4w was used through many years but they are not (without major modification) a straight swap.
Thanks MEDIC for sending me in the right direction!

ALLRIGHTY BOSS

STILL MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST A LITTLE MORE

I'M LOST WITH AN AUTOMATIC, THERE'S WAY TOO MANY MILLIONS OF PIECES THEY CRAM INTO SUCH A SMALL SPACE

AS YOU KNOW, I'M A CJ JEEP KINDA GUY AND I "CAN UNDERSTAND" HOW THEY WORK. I'VE REALLY NOT HAD THE LEISURELY PLEASURE AND TAKING TIME WITH LEARNING MUCH ABOUT THEIR INNARDS. KEEPING UP WITH SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND TRYING NOT TO SUBMIT THEM TO "H.ELL DAMAGE" HAS KEPT THE REST OF THE FAMILY GOING OVER THE YEARS, OTHER THAN A DIRECT SWAP A FEW TIMES WHEN THEY HAD TO HAVE IT "NOW!!!"

ABOUT A YEAR AGO, MY WIFE'S 2003 ESCAPE'S TRANNY JUST COULD NOT HANDLE THE FORWARD AND REVERSE STRESS I PUT ON IT WHEN SHE GOT IT STUCK IN THE SNOW. I DID GET IT OUT, BUT THE TRANNY WAS SHOT WITHIN DAYS

I, ALSO GRASPING FOR STRAWS, ADDED MY OWN QUESTION HERE (MY 6TH QUESTION SINCE SEPT 'O9, TO THE OTHER GUYS

OF COURSE, SINCE IT WAS "HER'S", TIME WAS OF THE ESSENCE----JUST SO HAPPENS "MR. JEEP", MY CJ 5 WAS IN NEED OF TRANNY REPAIR ALSO----BUT I WAS JUST FINE DRIVING "WILLY", MY '46 WILLYS, UNTIL I COULD FIX THE OTHER JEEP...........HER SITUATION JUST THREW A MONKEY WRENCH INTO MY WHOLE BATTLE PLAN, THAT I HAD FOR MR. JEEP

SEE-UNS' HOW I STARTED OUT WITH NOTHIN', AND STILL HAVE MOST OF IT LEFT!

HER RIG TOOK PRECEDENCE, OVER MY "ALWAYS LOYAL, 35 YEAR OLD BABY"

SO I KICKED INTO THE MacGYVER MODE, I INVESTIGATED THRU MANY PEOPLE, WHO DOES THE GOOD WORK, WHO DOES IT IN A TIMELY FASHION, WHO IS NOT A BIG SHOP, WHO WOULD YOU RECOMMEND YOUR OWN MAMA TO???

I ASKED AT SALVAGE YARDS, PARTS STORES, AND SO ON

I KNEW THE TRANNY MOST LIKELY JUST NEEDED A FULL REBUILD, NOTHING MAJOR WAS "BUSTED"---I GOT A LOT OF ESTIMATES, SITE UNSEEN

TURNS OUT THE FELLER I FOUND, HAS THE BEST REPUTATION IN TOWN (VERBALLY) BUT HAS SUCH A SMALL SHOP, HE IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED

I GAVE HIM AN EXTRA $100 FOR HELPING ME SO FAST, AND THIS STILL BEAT OUT THE OTHER SHOPS BY QUITE A MARGIN....WE ARE NOW SORTA "ACQUAINTANCE FRIENDS", HE IS THE SAME GUY THAT LOOKED OVER MY "MR. JEEP" TRANNY ISSUES WHICH DEVELOPED LATER...FOR FREE!

A GLIMPSE OF MY PLIGHT CAN BE SEEN IN THIS LINK!

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/2007-toyota-tacoma-transmission-very-loud-metalic-clanking-yesterday-got-too-seve

I WAS HELPING A CJ THROUGHOUT MY TRANNY/ TRANSFER CASE PROBLEMS, I WHINED ON HIS SHOULDER AND KEPT HIM UPDATED ON ME......AS I HELPED OUT WITH HIS! (I WON'T BORE YOU WITH THAT LINK, IT HAD 94 RESPONSES)

SO HERE'S THE BIG QUESTION/ POSSIBILITY I HAVE

HOW MUCH IS IT GONNA COST TO REBUILD WHAT YOU HAVE?

HOW MANY QUOTES HAVE YOU GOT?

DO YOU THINK IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE "RIGHT TRANNY MAN" COULD SWAP THE GUTS FROM ONE TO THE OTHER---MAYBE YOU COULD GET BY WITH MINIMAL LABOR, MAYBE SOME SMALL PARTS/ GASKETS/ SEALS?????

MAYBE YOUR OWN SKILLS MIGHT MAKE A TRADE BETTER?---I'M A PLUMBER, JUST SLINGIN' OUT SMALL "NOTHINGNESS" REPAIRS FOR FREE, MAY SWAY THE WAY PEOPLE THINK....IN MY CASE, I MAY NEED A TRANNY MAN----LATER, THEY MAY NEED A "SUPER PLUMBER"

YOU REALLY GOTTA TRY TO SWAY EVERYDAY POLITICS IN YOUR FAVOR

I HAVE MANY MORE OPINIONS AND "MacGYVER INGENUITY"

ANY OF THIS STUFF I'M SHOVELIN' HELPIN' AT ALL?

Problem mostly solved. Got a salvage tranny from a 2001 Cherokee >$600. Problem left, the jerk who sold me the wrong one off of Craigslist is unwilling to refund my money. I could drag him into small claims, or, I could give him some street justice, or, repost it onto Craigslist/E-Bay/etc and wait for someone to buy it. I am not a litigious nor violent person so it looks like I'll be providing a foster home until someone needs it.

CAN YOU LEAVE A "NEGATIVE REVIEW" ABOUT THE GUY WHO BOINKED YOU? (I SELDOM USE THE LIST, MY BUDDIES SHOW ME THE DEALS, WHEN THEY SEE SOMETHING I MIGHT LIKE. SO I REALLY DON'T KNOW THE IN'S AND OUT'S)

ALONG W/ POSTING IT ON CRAIG'S LIST

MAYBE ALSO LEAVE YOUR NAME AND NUMBER AT THE AUTO SALVAGE YARD, MAYBE AT THE LOCAL TRANNY SHOPS TOO?

WHAT ABOUT CALLING A 4X4 SHOP (LETS SAY WITHIN 100 MILES AND LEAVE YOUR NUMBER THERE TOO?

WHERE I LIVE, THERE IS ONE LOCAL AND TWO OTHER NEARBY "ON-LINE NEWSPAPERS", THEY LET YOU ADVERTISE FOR FREE IN THEM

ALL OF THIS CAN BE DONE WITH LITTLE EFFORT ON YOUR PART, IF YOU SIMPLY TELL YOUR WIFE, "I JUST CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST THIS STUFF, COULD YOU DO IT FOR ME?"

SOMEONE WILL EVENTUALLY WANT IT. IF YOU'RE STILL AROUND TO COLLECT!

KEEP US POSTED ON HOW THINGS WORK OUT

Alright, I have had my transmission replaced. It cost me a pretty penny and some change. Enough crying about that. My mechanic is still getting the same error code P0753, SOLENOID "A" ELECTRICAL. Imagine my frustration. That was a rhetorical statement, you cannot imagine my frustration, not even close. The real question is Do I need to replace the TCM or can it be reprogrammed?
