1998 Jaguar XJ8 Hood will not open

It pops on the driver's side but will not release the other side. We've tried to put weight on non-opening side while pulling latch ... nothings.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

it may be a rod clip broken see if you can feel it or maybe you 'll need to get under car to make the other latch move. you probably will have to remove a panel however we hav no diagrams to show on this.
