1998 Honda Crv 5 Speed Manual Shift Into Reverse Back Lights Only Stay On Push

5 speed manual, when I shift into reverse the back up lights only stay on if I push the shifter almost out of gear (R). I have seen where the cable connects at the leaver. and if I have some one push on that lever slightly the lights stay on. it didn't look like it was next to the boot where it mounts and I have only taken the knob and cover/console off. If I remove the plastic cover at the shifter can I adjust that cable there?

You can adjust the cable there our at the reverse switch on the transmison.
