Fans not working

I noticed my car get hot when i'm idleing and noticed my fans only come on when I have my a/c on. When I turn my a/c off the fans never kick on and the longer I sit the car starts running hot. Do you know what would cause my fans not to come on when a/c is off. Thank you.

They probably do come on. They are just programmed to come on at a higher temp than you are expecting. Some don't come on until right before the red area but that is intentional.
