My problem is similar to some other peoples on this site but not quite the same.

My '98 Honda Accord has a problem with the power locks. Using the remote I am unable to unlock the doors. I can hear the electric motor trying to unlock the door but it fails. About 99% of the time. The rare times that it works is often in cooler weather. And it has been over 2 months since it unlocked so I have stopped trying.

My problem is different then the ones I have been reading here because as soon as I unlock the driver side door. And only the driver side door. The locks will unlock about 80% of the time, but occasionally will not work or will just take a second or third press of the button.

So to reiterate, once the driver's side door is unlocked the rest of the doors will unlock using the remote. But if the driver's side door is locked they will stay stuck in the locked position.

This is also true of the power lock switches that are on the driver and passenger side doors. They will unlock all of the doors as long as the driver's side door is already unlocked.

When locking the doors, using the power lock switch or the key remote, all doors will lock except for the driver's side.

It is also worth noting that pressing down the lock **** on the driver's side door automatically locks all other doors. So the driver's side lock is connected to all of the door locks.

Symptoms indicates a faulty driver door lock actuator which is preventing the central locking system from operating.

Remove the door panel and test the actuator.

My knowledge in this area is limited but from a bit of research I also believed it to be the actuator. But how would I go about testing the actuator?

Remove the door panel and locate the door lock actuator socket harness and disconnet it.

Note the White/Red ans Light Green/Red wire location on the actuator. Aply battery voltage to one terminal and ground the other terminal. Reversing the polarity would lock/unlock.
