Hi all I have just bought a 1998 holden berlin as I was driving home this morning the front right started making a loud clicking scrape kind of sound as the wheels rotate, I have pulled off the front wheel and and when I spin the hub round a small piece of metal/tin in the top of the brake caliper is clicling on the top on the disc, do I just need to put in new brake pads? Or has my caliper shat itself? Any info is much apperciated.

Hi there,

This is a anti rattle clip, basically it stops the pad from vibrating, they do break from time to time, you will have to get a clip from a dealer, there are 2 per caliper (top & bottom) I would be replacing all 4 on the front brakes.

Thanx for the info :)
it was abit of a freek thing it turns out, you were right it was the top clip on the brake pads. Some how a stone or something got between the clip and the brake caliper and bent the centre of the clip down into the top of the disk. Click click click click, bent the broken piece of the clip back up and cut it off with some side cutters, pushed brake caliper back on and it seems to be all sorted.
Thanx again for the info :)
