1998 GMC C2500 Trouble code P1345

The truck has had the check engine light on for a long time but was running fine. Now the idle is rough, it runs rough, the gas mileage is very poor. We have changed the spark plugs, changed the oil, changed the fuel filter nothing had made the light go off and all other problems listed continue to be problems. I think the code refers to the crank position sensor but want to ensure this is the actual problem before replacing it. Thank you for and assistance you can give me in this matter.

I referred to "the code" but didn't specify that there is a P1345 trouble code when scanned.

You are correct about the code being for the crank sensor but it does not necessarily mean the sensor is faulty and replacing it would solve the problem.

You need to check the wiring and ensure everything is good. Such fault can be due to contamination to connectors or even a fault engine computer.
