truck wont start unless you play with the shifter, starts some times in nutrual and some times in park and some times when you beat on stering wheel. It seems to be the centor that tells it that it is in park how do i fix it? or can i by pass that centor?

Sounds like it needs a new transmission range sensor, formally called a neutral safety switch. It should be on the side of the transmission.
