car will start after being jumped but stalls shortly after taking jumper cables off, what is wrong

Hello,

It sounds like you have a bad alternator. A good battery will start a vehicle but in order for the engine to keep running the alternator has to function properly.
As you can jump start but as soon as you take off the cable the alternator drains the battery and stalls the engine.
You need to test the alternator output.
