Ticking, gets louder with acceleration but lightens up when cruising?

check for bent pushrod,valve train problem

It sounds like you may have a rocker arm that need to be replaced, I would see if the noise is coming from the upper part of the engine and then remove the valve cover for inspection. Please go over this guide as well
