intermittent windshield wiper problem

i have a 1998 ford ranger 4x4 3.0 L and have had an intermittent windshield wiper problem for about 3 months. I have replaced the motor, switch on steering column, cleaned the contacts and jiggled the wires with no success.

Have the GEM/Central timer module checked-
